Meira Ellias

Meira Ellias (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW, LCSW-C, LICSW) licensed in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Meira’s approach to therapy begins with forming mutual trust. She believes in the power of the therapeutic relationship and that a foundation of support empowers clients to explore their past and understand their environment. Meira is an ally for clients seeking to identify and understand the nature of their behavioral and relational patterns, and she works hand-in-hand with clients to develop and work toward goals.

Meira holds a Masters of Science in Social Work from Columbia University and a B.A. in Women’s and Gender Studies from Rutgers University. Meira also completed a 300-hour training in Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY), an empirically validated treatment for complex trauma, through the JRI Institute in Boston. Meira’s clinical experience includes serving as the supervising social worker at the only in-patient psychiatric hospital in the Washington D.C. area to focus on trauma and dissociative disorders. She was previously a clinical social worker at a hospice in Cherry Hill, NJ, where she worked with adults and pediatric hospice patients and their families.

Meira specializes in adult survivors of trauma, including childhood, relationship-based, and religious abuse. Her other specialties include grief, loss, and chronic illness. Meira offers a safe and supportive space for those looking to explore their sexual identities and those within the LGBTQIA+ community.
