About me
My private mental health practice focuses on critical individual and family issues. With a Ph.D. in Counseling and a concentration in Psychology, I bring both academic rigor and real-world insight into each session. As a professor at Adelphi University I taught in urban and suburban environments. My graduate and undergraduate courses examined the psychodynamics of male-female relationships, learning and creativity, statistics, and psychology and educational assessment. My TV appearances, radio interviews, lectures and workshops for school and community groups have helped educate parents and community leaders about mental health questions, effective communication, and bullying in a variety of environments.
The focus of my work is to help individuals, couples and families live more connected, emotionally fulfilling lives. Whether you are facing relationship strain, anxiety, grief, family conflict or navigating the business or corporate environment, I offer a supportive space to help you to understand what is not working and to take steps toward meaningful, lasting change. . As a licensed practitioner I work with individuals, couples, and families to foster stronger communication, healthier relationships, and greater resilience.
Within the therapeutic environment you will learn how to deal with your emotions, including those that you find challenging; to explore and address inner conflicts that you struggle with; and to navigate issues within your primary relationships, as well as social and business ones. Through our growing relationship together we create the space to explore how your emotional communication and the behaviors that follow impact upon the quality of your life, your relationships, and your sense of self.
Many of the men and wormen I work with appear outwardly successful, yet privately they struggle to form lasting emotional connections or to manage difficult feelings. Through thoughtful, collaborative work, we will identify those patterns, understand their roots, and develop healthier ways to respond.
With a Ph.D. in Counseling and a concentration in Psychology, I bring both academic rigor and real-world insight to each session. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Fellow of the American Psychotherapy Assocoation I offer support grounded in both expertise and empathy.
