About me

I've been a counselor in the Westminster/Arvada area since 1998. I provide Online Mindfulness Based Psychotherapy for adults experiencing personal and emotional difficulties, including stress, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, women’s issues, and more.

My practice has a strong focus in working to help people reduce their anxiety and depression by use of mindfulness based cognitive therapy, which trains the brain to challenge faulty thinking styles and focus on staying in the present moment instead of dwelling in the past, or fretting about the future. I enjoy working with clients who are contemplative and philosophical — who wrestle with concerns such as “the meaning and/or purpose of life”, and spirituality — including atheism, agnosticism, and secular questioning. Finding our way through these complicated issues in life is not always easy, but psychotherapy can help in locating the teacher within who knows how to find the way. I initially communicate with clients via telephone in order to do a phone screening and to gather basic information.

SUPPORT GROUPS AND CLASSES
TWO NEW SUPPORT GROUPS STARTING IN NOVEMBER 2025
ANXIETY SUPPORT GROUP
(Starting Thursday Nov, 6th)

WOMEN'S 50+ SUPPORT GROUP
(Starting Saturday Nov, 8th)

November 2025 will bring the start of two new Online Support Groups for those experiencing either Anxiety, or who are Women of a Certain Age seeking the support of other women experiencing the same life-stage concerns. These two separate groups will run weekly for 1 hour, except for the Thursday-through-weekend holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Unlike psychotherapy, Support Groups are designed to give you a place to meet others who are going through similar experiences. In a supportive group environment you can share feelings, pick up ideas and strategies for coping, find others who are going through similar experiences, feel less isolated and alone, and find some honest conversation and encouragement from others.

There is no psychological assessment, diagnosis, or in-depth therapy provided in a Support Group (as it is not formal psychotherapy), but you do have a good chance of finding some hope and support.

A monthly fee of $150 (a typical fee for one psychotherapy session) gains you access to attend one of these weekly Anxiety Support Group for one month. This is about $37/grp.

All group members will be required to participate in an initial phone screening with Mary before getting set up on the private, HIPAA compliant, online platform.

Call: 303-947-6847.
