About me

I am a former suicidal teen who is experienced in treating suicidal thoughts and behaviors in adolescents and adults. I am dedicated to helping individuals cope with anxiety, depression, anger and more!

My name is Martha Bethea and I started A Harmonious Mind to provide personalized mental health care to individuals struggling to cope with life stress. My professional experience and education has provided me with the skills and disposition necessary to aid persons struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, suicidal ideation and other mental health concerns. As a 28 year old member of the LGBTQ+ community and former suicidal teen, I am uniquely positioned to help those who are exploring their sexuality or gender or who are experiencing suicidal thoughts. Through the use of a strengths perspective, accelerated experiential dynamic psychotherapy, and person-centered relational treatment we can move from pain towards healing. I utilize music, games, art and other activities to make therapy a fun and engaging environment where you can feel safe expressing uncomfortable emotions. In session with me, we will work together to create a sense of safety in each session. We will collaborate in setting goals that you create based on your strengths and self-expectations. No one spends more time with you than you do, making you the expert in yourself. We will combine my experience in mental and behavioral health to identify areas of strength and growth. Beginning counseling can feel overwhelming, and you have already taken the first step. Together, we can undo any harm caused by previous engagements with mental health treatment. Let me help you become the best version of yourself!
