About me
Healing in therapy begins by finding a therapist who is a good fit. I am glad you found your way to this website to find someone who may be a good fit for you. I work with adults and teens and focus on helping people who are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief and trauma. As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, I focus on healing pain from the past that stays with us as an unwanted part of the present.
Most often we feel stuck and not fully ourselves because we are focused on a few strong feelings, a few loud inner voices, and a limited number of life choices. When we feel more open to a range of experience within ourselves, we feel more free to express what we really think and feel and make choices more consistent with our deepest sense of who we are and what we want. We are more available to build intimate and supportive relationships, and more courageous and playful in living a richly textured and creative life.
Because each of us struggles in different ways, to different degrees, in different circumstances, and for different reasons, I work collaboratively in identifying goals for therapy and in finding ways to reach those goals. This means that it takes time for us to work together to explore what brought you to therapy and for me to understand your unique struggles and strengths, your past and present experience, and the patterns and processes that you want to change.
Along with my training as a psychotherapist, and my own life experience and personal journey of healing, my work as a therapist is also informed by my academic training in philosophy and theology and my interests in music and nature. My style is warm and interactive, genuine and direct, with equal focus on exploring your feelings, thoughts, and choices.
