About me
I offer DBT-informed therapy centered on justice, cultural exploration, and learning to live inside oppressive systems without losing yourself.
Hey, I’m Marisol.
I’m a DBT therapist who works with adults trying to survive and make sense of their lives in a world that is not built for their wellbeing. A lot of what people experience as anxiety, burnout, rage, numbness, or despair makes complete sense when you name the systems we are living under. I don’t believe in treating people as if they are the problem while ignoring the conditions they’re responding to.
I’m from the Bronx. I’m Puerto Rican, mixed race, bisexual, gender nonconforming, and I come from a family shaped by activism, resistance, and survival. Those roots inform how I show up as a therapist. I don’t separate emotional work from cultural, political, or historical reality. All of that lives in the body, the nervous system, and our relationships.
My clinical foundation is Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I focus on building practical skills for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness, while also making space to explore identity, power, and meaning. Therapy with me is structured, honest, and collaborative. We work on concrete tools you can actually use, and we also slow down enough to understand why certain patterns developed in the first place.
I’m especially drawn to working with adults who feel overwhelmed by constant pressure, who are questioning dominant ideas about productivity and worth, or who are navigating life as marginalized or mixed-identity people. I welcome conversations about race, culture, queerness, gender, class, and liberation as part of the work, not as side notes.
I don’t believe therapy is about fixing you. It’s about learning how to live with more clarity, steadiness, and self-trust in circumstances you didn’t choose.
