About me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with four decades of experience working with individuals and couples to help navigate life’s many challenges and transitions. I also enjoy my work with Older Adults(65+).
The focus of my work is to help people to negotiate their relationships and find lasting satisfaction in their lives. I provide a safe, nonjudgmental environment.I model respectful, cooperative communication and teach my clients to use this in their lives. I empower my clients to see their strengths and to work toward their goals without pressuring them to change. I use a variety of approaches depending on the needs of the client. I work with people with mood and anxiety disorders. I also assist with life transitions including divorce. Many clients come to my office during or after a traumatic life event such as divorce or a spouse having an affair, job loss or death. I offer many practical strategies for coping.
I am certified by The Center for Mental Health and Aging to provide psychotherapy to Older Adults 65+. My focus is on highlighting resilience, adapting to change, and fostering hope for the future. Contrary to common belief, older adults are just as able to benefit from psychotherapy as are younger people. I also provide support for family caregivers.
I utilize an integrative approach in my practice including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients to identify negative thought patterns that affect emotions and behaviors. I teach clients to restructure their thoughts to improve mood and to develop an enhanced sense of wellbeing. I also utilize psychodynamic psychotherapy which emphasizes self awareness and explores how past experiences affect present feelings, behaviors, and relationships.
Grief is a profound journey that deserves careful attention. I provide a supportive environment to process complex emotions and to address various forms of loss. I offer practical strategies to help my clients navigate through and cope with traumatic events such as divorce, infidelity, job loss, and death.
I offer both virtual and in- person sessions allowing us to work together in whichever format fits your needs.
For virtual sessions I utilize a secure HIPAA compliant platform that ensures privacy and confidentiality while providing convenience.
In person sessions are held at my office located at 1200 High Ridge Road in Stamford,CT. I maintain a flexible schedule and am available for in -person appointments at mutually agreed upon times.
Inquiries from prospective clients are welcome. I offer a complimentary 15 minute phone consultation to help determine the next steps.
