About me
My private practice focuses on couples, families and individual adults.
My private practice focuses on couples, families and individual adults. I have a psycho-dynamic approach aligned with the understanding that change takes place through self-awareness combined with the small decisions we make on a daily basis. The past informs the present, but the goal is to create a present that better serves us. A trusting, aligned therapeutic relationship along with a client's motivation are crucial for the success of the process. I love working with the dynamics of an individual or delving into the complexities of couples. In both cases it is a privilege to walk side by side and be a reflecting witness as clients dig deep to explore their personal paths.
In addition to my present practice, I have six years of experience helping run high conflict co-parenting divorce classes. I also have training in collaborative divorce and have worked with the Marina Collaborative Divorce Group as a child advocate. Early in my career I was a therapist at a residential substance abuse program. I also ran a group at Vista del Mar for gay fathers. In 1989 I opened First Years Preschool in Venice which I still own but which I no longer direct on a daily basis. My early childhood background spans over forty-five years and brings depth to my work as a therapist including understanding the formation of self in early development and familiarity with the challenges of parenting. My education includes a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Goddard College, a Masters in Urban Planning from Yale and a Masters in Family Therapy from Loyola Marymount. The range of my work and my education, along with my years of life experience, have created a symbioses that enriches what I bring as a therapist. To join clients on their internal journey is a trust that I never take lightly.
