Mamie Albritton, LMFT

I am an experienced and multi-state licensed marriage and family therapist who focuses on helping people thrive in recovery from sexual addiction and personality disorders through individual and couples therapy.

I began my career in residential treatment working with men with sexual addiction and personality disorders. In this role, I worked as a primary therapist and as a couple’s or family therapist to their loved ones. It was there that I found my passion of helping people learn about themselves and helping them learn to communicate their newfound self with others, in a healthy and appropriate way. For me, I believe that many issues in addiction and relationship difficulties stems from a lack of what I like to call authenticity of self, which means you don’t know who you are, how you feel, what you think, and what to do in relationships with others. This leads to poor communication, difficulty forming healthy bonds, feelings of shame, and believing that your life is not in your control. Often in struggles with addiction, accountability is difficult to accept, due to the feelings of shame it creates. I work with my clients to decrease that shame, move away from being a bystander in their lives and encourage them to grow into a more empathetic and connected individual or couple. It is my goal to help others find their authentic selves and be proud of the life that they have created. My style of therapy is compassionate and empathetic while still maintaining boundaries and accountability through direct feedback. I am currently licensed in MS, AL, LA, OK, SC, TX, and CO.
