About me

I am an experienced therapist who believes the right fit matters and works alongside clients with honesty, compassion, and a genuine commitment to creating meaningful change

Finding the right therapist matters. Therapy is personal, and I believe the relationship you build with your therapist is an important part of what makes the work effective. You should feel comfortable being yourself, confident that you’re being heard, and know that the person sitting across from you is genuinely engaged and invested in helping you move forward.
My style is warm, honest, straightforward, and collaborative. I’m not the therapist who is going to sit silently, nod, and occasionally ask, “How does that make you feel?” I’m an active participant in the process. I’ll listen, ask questions, help you recognize patterns, celebrate your progress, and sometimes challenge you when I believe there’s something worth looking at more closely. I’ll also tell you when I think something isn’t working so we can figure out together what might.
People come to therapy for all kinds of reasons. You may be dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, relationship difficulties, grief, or a major life transition. Maybe you’ve been carrying something for years and are finally ready to address it. Or maybe nothing is dramatically “wrong,” but you know something in your life needs to change. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you walk through the door.
My approach is person-centered and strengths-based, and I draw from a variety of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and attachment- and systems-based approaches. But people are not diagnoses or treatment manuals. I don’t believe in forcing every client into the same therapeutic approach. We’ll figure out what makes sense for you and adjust as your needs and goals change.
I also bring a lot of life experience into the therapy room. Before becoming a therapist and educator, I spent more than two decades serving in the Navy. I’ve lived and worked with people from different backgrounds, cultures, and walks of life, and I understand that life rarely follows a straight path. My own path certainly didn’t. I wanted to become a therapist long before I ever joined the military, but life, school, responsibilities, and a few not-so-great decisions took me in other directions before I eventually found my way back to what I had always wanted to do.
That journey influences the way I practice. I don’t expect perfection, and I don’t believe your past determines where you go next. I’m interested in understanding what happened, what you learned from it, what may still be getting in your way, and—most importantly—what you want your life to look like moving forward.
I work with adults, adolescents, teens, and children, and I recognize that therapy looks different depending on the person sitting in front of me. Some clients need a safe place to finally say things they haven’t been able to say anywhere else. Others want concrete strategies and tools. Some need help processing trauma or understanding long-standing patterns, while others need someone who will respectfully challenge them and help them turn insight into action. Often, good therapy involves a little bit of all of those things.
I’m also an educator, and that shows up in my work as a therapist. I want you to understand what we’re doing and why—not simply follow my directions. Therapy should help you develop insight and skills that continue working long after our sessions end. In fact, I believe one of the goals of good therapy is eventually not to need therapy anymore. I want you to leave our work knowing yourself better, trusting yourself more, and having tools you can continue using on your own.
What you see is what you get with me. I’m genuine, respectful, curious, and human. There may be serious conversations, difficult moments, humor, frustration, breakthroughs, and probably some laughter along the way. You don’t have to perform in therapy or show up as anyone other than yourself.
We operate as a team. Bring your life and experiences—I’ll bring mine. I’ll show up fully, and I’ll ask you to do the same. Together, we’ll do the work that creates real change.
