About me
I am Lorieann Heredia-Solano, M.A. LMHC, ADHD-CCSP, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor from Puerto Rico, practicing in Florida, USA. I completed my undergraduate and graduate degrees in Psychology at The Inter-American University of Puerto Rico. In addition to my education, I'm an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP) with certifications in Mindfulness, Positive Psychology, and The Modular Approach to Therapy for Children with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, or Conduct Problems (MATCH-ADTC).
I combine positive psychology approaches and mindfulness training techniques for patients with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Positive psychology is a strengths-based approach to assist individuals and families in identifying and developing their strengths and abilities. Mindfulness training focuses on orienting the attention purposefully to the present moment, observing, acting, and describing with awareness.
My focus is to approach, in a non-judgmental way, the current and past experiences with curiosity, openness, and acceptance, offering a more balanced, holistic, and hopeful path to a population typically viewed through a deficit lens. I firmly believe that mental health encompasses more than just the absence of illness; it involves nurturing virtues, justice, and character strengths like open-mindedness, authenticity, kindness, self-regulation, and gratitude.
