About me

I am a clinical social worker whose expertise includes addiction, trauma, family of origin, and depression/anxiety.

My practice is about helping clients feel better, reducing their suffering, and assisting them in achieving a better quality of life. The interventions I use depend on the individual client's needs and direction presented. Sometimes clients just need me to witness their stories, their journey and the patterns they bring to the psychotherapeutic experience. Other times, therapy involves getting in the mud and working it out.

In a way, I was born into the field of psychotherapy. Like many other, my family suffered from the transgenerational dysfunction associated with addiction and issues associated with it. The experiences in my family, though painful and challenging at the time, place me in a unique position to help my clients deal with their own family-of-origin issues, addictions, compulsions, anxiety, depression, trauma, shame, and codependency.

I have benefitted from some outstanding training available to professionals in my field. My education started with a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Texas at El Paso and was followed by a Master of Social work from the University of Houston. Since that time, I have worked with and received training from some of the finest therapists in the country. My post-graduate education has included Post Induction Training with Pia Melody, assisting John Bradshaw with his Healing the Child Within workshops, and training in EMDR and Somatic Experience, I am also a Certified Interventionist Professional, a Certified Daring Way Facilitator, and an Acudetox Specialist.

In addition to my private practice, I have served as the Clinical Director at The Council on Recovery, where I treated people struggling with addiction and supporting their families since 2001
