About me
I'm a 1.5 generation Filipino-American licensed marriage and family therapist specializing in supporting BIPOC, AAPI, LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, and other marginalized communities through intergenerational trauma, inner child healing, recovering from people pleasing + perfectionism/overfunctioning, reclaiming multi-cultural identities, self-identity exploration, emotion regulation, and ultimately helping you find emotional safety inside and outside of your body.
Where healing begins by embracing all parts of you.
Therapy for those who have struggled finding safe spaces of belonging, and feeling fully understood.
Based in sunny, San Diego, CA; A Warm Embrace offers culturally responsive, identity-affirming, and trauma-informed care for BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, and other marginalized communities.
My approach is warm, reassuring, gentle but firm, and non-fussy. I love to use humor with clients when it is appropriate. We can openly talk about politics, religious, race, and sex/sexuality because you are a whole person that holds so many parts of your identity. And I believe it is so important to honor and make space for all the things that happen inside and outside of you, including your relationships, your home environment, as well as societal and cultural influences.
As a 1.5 generation Filipino-American child of immigrants who had to learn how to be hyperindependent, people pleasing, and perfectionist in order to survive, I then had to unlearn so much of that in order to find a new way of feeling safe and secure in myself. I came into this work specifically to serve those who could use similar guidance and support my younger self would've needed growing up. I aim to not just be any kind of therapist, but someone who has a certain depth of empathy and understanding that only comes through shared or similar lived trauma and experiences as a marginalized person in this country.
