About me
I move as a catalyst for change and helping people transform themselves by guiding them through their challenges and empowering them to reach their goals. My role as a therapist is ensuring a safe, collaborative, and creative place to explore the complexities and challenges of life. I believe therapy is about guiding people to achieve goals they may not think were possible; and assisting clients to learn to recognize their strengths. I am committed to helping adults and take a person-centered approach using a strength-based model in working with clients. I provide Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to assist clients in their discovery, growth, and development. Specialties areas: Depression, Suicide Ideation/Self-harm, Anxiety/Social Anxiety/Panic Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Complex Trauma (healing from childhood trauma), Anger management, Grief & Loss, Low Self-Esteem.
I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Virginia for nearly 5 years—I've been a Counselor for 14 years. I was a Licensed Professional Counselor. I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC) through National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I hold a Bachelor’s in Human Development & Psychology and Master’s Degree in Counseling. I’m committed to helping adults and work from a strength-based, client-centered, collaborative, and holistic approach that considers the person’s mind, body, spirit, and worldview. I work with clients to encourage them to feel empowered and supported in their journey towards healing and reaching their future goals. Therapy can help you explore what is internally inhibiting personal growth. Lisa works with adults to explore ways to move beyond symptoms, limitations, and challenges and towards personal growth and fulfillment.
I engage Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and other tools to assist clients in letting go of patterns that are no longer serving them.
