About me
I am a seasoned therapist, who specializes in anxiety and life transitions.
Are you someone who feel anxious and uncertain? Do you worry about things not going well in your life? Not sure how to handle a relationship or social situations? Perhaps, you are someone who seems like you have it all together, but secretly feel like you are falling apart. I am here for you. I can guide you to put your emotions in order. I will listen and hold space without judgement, and then help you gain more insight. I can also help create a plan to reduce your anxiety and get through your day with less stress. I can help you make a plan for your future and how to get more out of your relationships. I use humor and common interest to connect and formulate a trusting therapeutic relationship. My client have described me as eclectic, relaxed, and caring.
I use a variety of techniques pulling from many therapeutic models, such as Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused, Dialectical Behavioral, Mindfulness, Narrative, and Internal Family Systems. I believe that therapy should be bespoke and just for you. If ever something doesn't feel like it is clicking, I am open to changing and trying a different approach. I do not believe in a one size fits all approach.
I have worked with client from a variety of backgrounds. I support people who self identify as part of the LGBT+ community. I have helped people, with past trauma and harmful coping mechanisms, create meaningful and healthy lives. I do my best to maintain high ethical standards and appropriate clinical practice. I am personable and present with a comfortable manner. I do not want to make therapy feel like a chore, even though we will do some hard work.
I practice only online, because I want to be able to help people from all over Virginia. I also don't want people to waste time in traffic. If you have reservations about having therapy online, I understand and offer a free 15 minute session to try it out. I promise once things get going you won't even notice the difference. Although, there are occasional glitches, most session go smoothly and we are still able to develop a strong therapeutic relationship.
