About me
I am an experienced Licensed Professional Counselor with a special interest in narcissistic abuse recovery, religious abuse and trauma, holistic health, and workplace stress and trauma.
I’m Lisa Elliott Schumacher, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS), and seminary graduate. I believe that seeking therapy is a courageous step toward healing, and I’m proud of you for being here, exploring your options.
With over a decade of professional experience, I bring a compassionate, holistic approach to counseling. I offer support to individuals navigating a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship difficulties, occupational stress/trauma, and spiritual or religious abuse. I also have a special interest in narcissistic abuse recovery, helping individuals heal from the effects of narcissistic relationships and reclaim their sense of self.
**My Approach to Therapy**
I integrate psychology and spirituality in my work, offering an approach that is flexible and tailored to your needs. I am trained to incorporate spiritual care for clients who wish to integrate faith into their healing process, while also providing strictly clinical therapy for those who prefer a more traditional approach. My time working in acute healthcare settings has shown me how deeply interconnected mind, body, and spirit are, and I strive to support each aspect of your wellness—mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual.
Below is a summary of my education and credentials:
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Wesleyan College, 1999
Master of Arts in Professional Counseling, Liberty University, 2012
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), since 2015
Master of Divinity (M.Div.), Liberty University, 2016
Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS), since 2018
Member of the Licensed Professional Counselors Association (LPCA)
In addition to my academic qualifications, I continue to seek out professional development to stay informed and effective in my practice. For example, I am currently receiving further training in narcissistic abuse recovery work.
A Holistic, Client-Centered Approach
I believe in treating the whole person—mind, body, spirit, and community. Whether it’s through individual therapy, couples counseling, or supporting those in healthcare professions, my goal is to help you achieve balance, resilience, and emotional well-being. I work with you to uncover your best self and walk alongside you as you navigate the challenges life presents.
More About Me
Outside of counseling, I’m a wife, mother of four grown children, and a proud grandmother of four (soon to be five!). I enjoy travel, reading, gardening, and spending time with family. I also love working with blended families, which has been an important part of my personal journey.
