Laureca Schofield

I am an experienced therapist for children and adults working to address struggles with anxiety, anger, depression, and trauma.

My name is Laureca Schofield and I am a licensed mental health counselor in Iowa and a licensed clinical professional counselor in Illinois. I specialize in working with children, adults, and families who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, family issues, Autism, ADHD, and anger. I help by partnering with my clients to best understand the concerns and issues bringing them to therapy to ensure that the modalities I put forth will be the most effective. I approach therapy with curiosity and a collaborative mindset. I am direct and straightforward, which includes challenging my clients when needed while empowering them to make the changes they want to. In our first few sessions, you can expect us to start building rapport and determining if we are a good fit. While doing this, I am seeking to understand as much about your mental health, family, social, medical, and risk histories as I can to help us build a plan for treatment and determine which modalities will best match those goals. My practice is unique because I have worked in multiple different mental health settings. Almost 9 years of that experience was working in a psychiatric medical institute for children, or residential facility. These children had very acute mental health struggles and their families were in survival. I brought hope for the future and guided them towards growth and change to lead a healthier life. I have seen and worked with a wide variety of issues and concerns at an intense level. I am passionate about this work because everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, supported, and valued in life. I strive to provide a supportive environment in which my clients can do the difficult work of growing and changing to be a better version of themselves.
