**I am a student counselor at Empowered Path Counseling with over 30 years of law enforcement experience, dedicated to helping individuals, couples, first responders, military personnel, and adolescents navigate challenges, build resilience, strengthen relationships, and achieve lasting growth.**

Life can present challenges that leave us feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or uncertain about the path forward. Whether you are struggling with unwanted sexual behaviors, relationship difficulties, betrayal trauma, anxiety, life transitions, occupational stress, or personal growth challenges, you do not have to navigate them alone.

As a student counselor at Empowered Path Counseling, I bring a unique combination of professional experience, recovery-focused training, and real-world understanding to the counseling relationship. Before entering the counseling profession, I served for more than 30 years in law enforcement, retiring after a career that provided firsthand experience working with individuals and families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Throughout those years, I witnessed the impact that trauma, stress, addiction, broken relationships, and emotional isolation can have on individuals, marriages, and families. Those experiences shaped my passion for helping others find healing, resilience, and restoration.

One of my primary areas of focus is helping men who struggle with sexual addiction, compulsive sexual behaviors, pornography addiction, and other unwanted sexual behaviors. Many men find themselves trapped in cycles of secrecy, shame, and broken promises that affect every area of life, including their relationships, self-esteem, faith, and sense of purpose. My goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients can better understand the underlying factors contributing to these behaviors while developing practical strategies that support lasting change.

In addition to my counseling and coaching work, I have spent more than seven years facilitating men's recovery groups for individuals seeking freedom from sexual addiction and other unwanted sexual behaviors. Walking alongside men in both group and individual settings has given me a deep appreciation for the courage required to pursue recovery and the power of authentic connection in the healing process. These groups have provided opportunities for men to develop accountability, learn healthy coping skills, process shame, build meaningful relationships, and experience the support of others who understand their struggles. Through this work, I have witnessed firsthand that lasting change is possible when individuals are willing to embrace honesty, community, and personal responsibility.

Recovery is about far more than simply stopping a behavior. True recovery involves learning emotional awareness, building healthy coping skills, developing accountability, understanding triggers, strengthening relationships, and creating a life aligned with one's values. I work collaboratively with clients to help them move beyond symptom management and toward genuine transformation.

I am also passionate about supporting spouses and partners who have experienced betrayal trauma. The discovery of sexual addiction, pornography use, infidelity, or repeated deception can be deeply traumatic and often leaves spouses feeling confused, unsafe, angry, and isolated. Healing from betrayal requires more than simply moving past the behavior—it requires rebuilding safety, restoring trust, and creating an environment where both partners can move toward healing.

A significant component of my work involves helping couples rebuild trust through truth, transparency, accountability, and healthy communication. As a Certified Disclosure Guide–Candidate, I assist individuals and couples in preparing for the formal disclosure process, a structured process designed to establish a foundation of honesty regarding past behaviors. When handled appropriately, disclosure can become an important step toward reducing ongoing discovery trauma and creating a starting point for meaningful relational repair.

In addition to my work with addiction recovery and couples, I have a special appreciation for first responders, military personnel, veterans, and their families. The demands of these professions often create unique challenges that are difficult for others to fully understand. Years of exposure to trauma, high-stress environments, hypervigilance, shift work, organizational pressures, and the expectation to remain strong can take a significant toll on mental, emotional, relational, and spiritual well-being. Having spent my own career in law enforcement, I understand many of these challenges firsthand and strive to provide a supportive environment where clients can speak openly without fear of judgment or misunderstanding.

I also enjoy working with adolescent boys and young men as they navigate the challenges of identity development, self-confidence, peer relationships, family dynamics, decision-making, and the transition into adulthood. Adolescence is a critical season of life where healthy guidance, encouragement, and support can have a lasting impact. I seek to help young men develop resilience, character, emotional awareness, and confidence as they face life's challenges.

My counseling approach is grounded in empathy, authenticity, accountability, and respect. I believe every person has inherent value and possesses the capacity for growth and change. My role is not to tell clients what to do, but to walk alongside them, helping them gain insight, develop practical tools, and move toward the goals that matter most to them.

For clients who desire it, I am also comfortable integrating faith and Christian principles into the counseling process. As someone who values the role of faith in healing and personal growth, I recognize the importance of addressing the whole person—mind, body, relationships, and spirit.

Seeking help is often one of the most difficult steps a person can take, but it is also one of the most courageous. Whether you are working through addiction, betrayal, relationship struggles, occupational stress, life transitions, or personal challenges, I would be honored to walk alongside you as you pursue healing, growth, and lasting change.
