About me
I am an experienced LCSW who works with people experiencing challenging and traumatic circumstances and discovering how to set boundaries and ask for what they want.
Hi!
My name is Kristen Smith and I am a LCSW in Maine. I specialize in helping women, moms, and late-diagnosed people figure out who they are and where they want to go in life. Together, we will create a plan to address anxieties, fears, hopes, and find out who you want to be. I work from a perspective of understanding the role that the nervous system plays in how you address issues, and how to calm your fight, flight and fear responses. Once we understand more about how you respond to anxiety-producing situations, we can figure out the hints your body sends you, what trauma may be impacting you, and how to heal.
We will work from a strengths and system focused place, meaning we will look at the coping skills you do already have and how to improve, generalize or increase them. I also will always acknowledge the harms that family history, economics, social policy, poverty, war etc. impacts everyone.
Thank you for taking time to care for yourself!
