About me
I am licensed in Florida and Georgia, and I have been working in the mental health field for over 19 years. I have worked successfully with ages from childhood to late adulthood, persons from diverse racial backgrounds and socioeconomic backgrounds, LGBTQ clientele, corrections clientele in both a prison setting and on probationary statuses, child-welfare involved clientele, persons with autism, severe and persistently mentally ill individuals, and persons with health related disabilities.
I would describe my approach to therapy fundamentally as a blend of psychodynamic, behavioral, and humanistic practices . I utilize a trauma-informed therapy approach, and I am skilled in techniques of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Behavioral Activation, Person-Centered Therapy, therapeutic confrontation, reality testing for psychosis, teaching of mindfulness and relaxation skills, role-playing, and educating in the importance of play, exercise, and proper nutrition for lifelong self-care habits.
I am experienced in treating persons dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, anger management issues, OCD, ADHD, ODD, and substance use/dual-diagnosis. My goal is to provide a safe space where clients can explore their experiences, build coping strategies, and work toward acceptance, change, and/or letting go of what is holding them back from being the best version of themselves.
