About me

Hello! I'm Kim, and I am an Accredited Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers.
I'm also a mum with adult children and have had many life experiences which has assisted me, along with my learnt education, to get to where I am in life.
Here is what I do -
- I provide therapeutic support for mental health concerns including post - traumatic growth and healing
- I use my lived and learnt experience to assist victims / survivors of domestic and family violence and the many facets of our life including grief and loss and mental health which are affected
- I assist Christians with their faith and mental health and am qualified in theology and live accordingly to do so. Not a Christian? No problem! I'm still happy to assist you in a non - religious way. Therefore, I provide both conservative and liberal assistance dependant on your need / s
- I also assist couples with therapy using effective management and conflict resolution skills and knowledge as per Gottman Institute training
- Family therapy as per The Bouverie Centre is at the core of my assistance when families need skills and knowledge to assist them through either a single event or accumulating life events
- Chronic pain is a part of my daily life so I use my lived and learnt experience to assist others experiencing same especially regarding grief and loss with what life was looking like then everything changed (and not for the better). If you're living with another life - changing illness then the grief and loss journey you're going through will resonate
- Communication is essential in every facet of life so I can assist you with building effective communication strategies
- Self - care is essential so I assist anyone with building and maintaining same
Therapeutic modalities used are ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Trauma - Focused ACT, ACT for Grief and Loss, MI (Motivational Interviewing), CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy), Attachment Therapy, Solutions Focused Therapy, Client Centred Therapy, and Narrative Therapy including Narrative Therapy for First Nations People. I also therapeutically intervene with mindfulness including trauma - sensitive mindfulness, positive psychology, post - traumatic growth, anti - oppressive and strengths - based and person - centred practice. I also assist anyone with their self - care who want to experience growth in their life. Therefore, psychoeducation is also a part of my practice.
I look forward to working with you.
In healing and hope,
Kim
