About me

With nearly thirty years of experience, I have helped individuals, couples, and families navigate through some of life's toughest challenges.

With nearly thirty years of experience, I have helped individuals, couples, and families navigate through some of life's toughest challenges. Originally from New York City, I relocated to Central Florida in 1985. I began my professional career in executive recruiting, human resources, and corporate consulting, where I discovered my ability for problem-solving and helping others tackle complex personal issues. While my professional background was influential, it was my own personal experiences with trauma and loss that inspired me to shift gears and follow a path in counseling. Through my own journey of healing from profound trauma and loss, I developed a passion to support and help others in their journeys. I hold undergraduate degrees in psychology and theology, along with a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Stetson University.

My Approach

As a therapist specializing in systemic and solution-focused methodologies, I recognize the profound interconnection between our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. In treating individuals, couples and families I recognize each situation is unique and use a holistic, client-centered approach to enable me to support my clients in their unique journey toward wholeness and empowerment, grounded in self-awareness and self-care. My preferred evidence-based methods include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Restructuring, Imago, Gottman and Jungian Therapy. I also use CRAFT, a research-supported systemic method designed to help families impacted by substance abuse and addiction.

Treatment Areas

My areas of specialization include Depression and Anxiety (including Panic Disorders), Trauma, PTSD, Marriage and Relationships, Grief and Loss, Faith-Based Counseling, Substance Abuse and Addiction, Career Counseling and Organizational Dynamics. My background includes decades in private practice, group therapy, leading the H.E.A.L group for Adventist Health, where I supported parents who have gone through the heart-wrenching experience of losing a child. Additionally, I have developed and facilitated family programs and groups for substance treatment facilities, and provided trauma debriefing and training for first responders, school campuses, and the community. My background in corporate consulting and human resources has equipped me with helping others navigate career paths and career change.
