About me
I help children, teens, and survivors of domestic violence rebuild safety, trust, and hope after trauma.
When someone experiences trauma or loss, it changes everything — the way we see ourselves, the people we trust, and the safety we once took for granted. Whether you’re a parent watching your child struggle, a teen trying to make sense of pain, or an adult who’s been dismissed or betrayed by systems meant to protect you, you don’t have to face this alone.
I’m Kelly Rae Robertson, MS, MSCJ, LAPC, CCTS, NCC, EMDR-Trained, a trauma and grief counselor and founder of Mindful Coast Counseling in Pennsylvania. I help children, teens, families, first responders, survivors of domestic violence, and whistleblowers heal from trauma, grief, and systemic betrayal.
My work is grounded in trauma-informed care, EMDR, and compassionate advocacy. Before becoming a therapist, I spent more than a decade working inside the criminal-justice system, witnessing how easily people fall through the cracks — and how deeply survivors need someone to stand beside them. That experience shapes every session I offer today.
🕊️ For Children and Teens
Grief and trauma look different for every child. Some act out, some withdraw, and others seem “fine” until they’re not. I provide a calm, creative space where kids and teens can process feelings safely, rebuild trust, and rediscover a sense of control. Parents are often relieved to finally see their child open up and begin to heal.
💞 For Parents and Families
When one person hurts, the whole family feels it. I help parents understand trauma responses and learn ways to support their child while also caring for their own emotional health. Together, we focus on communication, connection, and practical strategies that help everyone breathe a little easier.
⚖️ For Survivors and First Responders
I specialize in working with adults who have experienced domestic violence, workplace trauma, or systemic injustice. Many of my clients are helpers — nurses, police officers, firefighters, or advocates — people who spend their lives taking care of others. Therapy gives you a place to take off the armor and finally be cared for yourself.
🌱 My Style
Clients describe me as genuine, grounded, and fiercely compassionate. I don’t hide behind clinical jargon; I meet people where they are. My sessions often include reflection, humor when it fits, and advocacy when it’s needed. My goal is to help you feel safe, seen, and empowered.

🌊 Why “Mindful Coast”
The coast represents healing — where waves meet the shore, and calm meets strength. Healing doesn’t mean the tide stops coming; it means you learn to stand again.
