I'm an experienced clinical social worker with several years servicing at risk youth as well as working with adults with psychiatric illness.

My name is Kayla. I am a licensed independent clinical social worker working in Rhode Island. I graduated with my masters in 2019 but I have been in the mental health field for 10 years. I started out working with at risk youth all over the state of RI, in their homes and in their communities. I have a lot of experience working with children with many different mental health backgrounds including anxiety and depression. I've worked with families who are involved with DCYF and families involved in truancy courts. I also have a background in working with acutely psychotic adults in a hospital setting with diagnosis such as schizophrenia, bipolar and schizo effective disorder.

I have always had a passion for working with others and helping them navigate through tough times. I like to use a client centered approach, meeting you right where you are at. Their is no judgement when meeting with me and I try to create a very comfortable and laid back environment. I like to be solution focused so I will work with you to try to find different skills and techniques that realistically work for you and your life circumstances to help alleviate some of the distress you are in. I use modalities such as CBT, but I will also be trained in EMDR by the end of 2023.

Therapy can be difficult and uncomfortable. Although I can't take that part of the process away, I promise to walk side by side with you as we together try to navigate how to make things feel a little lighter and more manageable.
