About me
Experienced bereavement counselor dedicated to supporting and empowering you along your unique grief journey.
Katie Gardner started her helping career in ministry, studying Biblical Studies and Philosophy at Belhaven University. A commitment to justice, diversity, and empowerment of all people led her to pursue a master's degree in Social Work from The University of Southern Mississippi. Personal experience with death and grief created an interest in understanding bereavement and contemporary grief support. She has over 6 years of experience in professional bereavement services, including supporting organ donor families in the ICU, facilitating age-appropriate peer support groups for children and adolescents, and counseling patients with life-limiting illnesses receiving palliative care in the hospital. She completed the Compassionate Bereavement Care Provider certification through the MISS Foundation and the Elizabeth Kubler-Ross Foundation in 2021. She is passionate about using evidenced-based interventions and creating the opportunity to embrace our humanity as we face grief and other difficult life transitions. In this death and grief-phobic world, the first step is to talk about it. Reach out today!
