About me

I work with couples as well as individual adults of all ages. Having lived abroad, I have worked with many different cultures and races and am sensitive to and curious about your unique experiences. With individuals, I specialize working with the frustration, anxiety, and confusion of “something just feels off”; I also work with those who’ve experienced traumas. With couples, I particularly like working with partners who feel stuck, unheard, or uncertain. I am not a believer of "normal" and encourage exploration of authenticity, of what clicks for you.

Sometimes, it’s about where to start. How will you talk to this stranger, - why would you and where to even begin? I offer 15-30 minute free 'intro' phone chats so you can “pre-meet” me and get that initial edge out of the way. Since you are hiring me, why not find out if I will be a good fit for you?

I am a LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) as well as an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) and value my education as a resource in our sessions. I also value my lived experiences (here and abroad; parent and partner; several professions from employee to entrepreneur to student) as incredibly important to my work in relating to your own lived experiences. Today, I live with a TBI (traumatic brain injury). I understand chronic illness as well as traumas. I "get" ADHD. I also understand the less talked about topics such as both the pain and pleasure of our pets; deciding whether "no contact" is a healthier boundary; thinking through how our screen time is helpful/hurtful; understanding how to talk about finances and develop a healthier connection with $$; understanding aging and what our doctors aren't telling us and what we aren't asking (not to mention medical trauma!)... If you have long hesitated to speak of something or ask, you have a safe space to begin the conversation.

In sessions, I work with your external and internal family systems so that you can understand how critically important your voice is. Whether you want to (re)learn how to communicate; to listen better; to express your needs and feel seen; to be safely angry; to be clearly understood; to improve your relationship as partner or parent, I can work with you. Your journey is not just about finding your path and your passions but about finding your voice. I want to help you to recover a more daring, loving self – someone who is more and not less.

I look at where you have been as well as where you are going; the challenges you have faced and the ones you are facing; the moments of silent outrage, fear, or confusion. I listen to and respect all parts of you who wish to be heard. I understand trauma and its many manifestations and can be present for where you've been, where you are, and where you dream (or dream of dreaming!) of going next.
