About me
Hello and welcome to my profile.
www.betterhelp.com/karen-bell
My name is Karen Bell and I am qualified to work in the UK and beyond online. I am insured and licensed to work with anyone online anywhere in the world. I am a person-centred counsellor (also known as Rogerian, after Carl Rogers). That means we form a therapeutic relationship together. It is like the meeting of two minds so that you feel validated and not on your own with your feelings and struggles. How you feel is my priority, I care about your needs and what you bring to your sessions is not judged. I work with comparative theories as stated in my qualification. That means I am not restricted to only working person centred, although that is the core model that you need to feel valued.
I am an Accredited Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP- Accred).
I have been working in counselling for over 18 years.
My experience consists of working as a counsellor in a GP surgery, working for Someone Cares as a trauma counsellor with clients who are suicidal, self-harm and have experienced child sexual abuse and working for Northumbria Police as an Occupational Health Counsellor specialising in trauma and EAP, which gave me a wealth of experience in working with stress, anxiety, depression, relationships, bereavement and other losses.
Dealing with life’s stresses can get on top of us and counselling is an ideal way forward. People have many ways of coping and this can often lead to habits and addictions. If your issue is not listed, please still make contact. Talking therapy is statistically proven to lead to optimum mental health.
If you have been a victim of narcissistic abuse and/or gaslighting, you have come to the right place. It is not your imagination.
Regardless of gender or sexuality, culture or religion, you are welcome to access my service.
If you have one of the protected characteristics you are absolutely welcome. You are in good company if you are on the Autistic spectrum or have ADHD and please tell me all about what dysregulates you and what you need, if you know, and if you don't we can work that out together.
I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without judgement.
You are never wasting my time.
Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process. People often say they wish they did it sooner.
Counselling via chat, phone, and especially video is very powerful.
I look forward to meeting you and working with you very soon.
Kind regards,
Karen
