About me
My name is Karel, I am a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner and founder of Solutions Psychiatry. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, ADHD, and mood disorders. I work with teens and adults (ages 14+) who want more than a quick prescription or surface-level advice. I combine evidence-based therapy and medication management in one appointment, so your care is cohesive, personalized, and designed to help you build confidence, develop insight, and create lasting change.
If you're looking for a psychiatric provider who will take your concerns seriously, who listens, thinks critically, and helps you make meaningful change then you’re in the right place.
You won’t be passed between providers. You won’t feel rushed. You will be supported with a clear plan and consistent care—designed to help you stabilize, grow, and thrive.
Who I Help:
I work with people struggling with:
- Anxiety and panic
- Depression and emotional numbness
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
- ADHD in teens and adults, ranging from low energy to high performance individuals
- Bipolar disorder and intense mood swings
- Trauma, including childhood and complex PTSD
- Anger and emotional reactivity
- Low self-esteem, boundary issues, and difficulty navigating relationships
- Many of my clients are high functioning but overwhelmed. Others feel stuck and unsure how to move forward. Whether you’ve tried therapy before or this is your first time, I’ll meet you where you are—and help you move forward with structure, care, and clarity.
How I Help:
I use therapy approaches that are practical, focused, and designed to help you make progress—not stay stuck.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): helps you notice unhelpful thought patterns and shift them so you feel more in control of your emotions and behavior.
- Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT): keeps our work goal-oriented. We focus on what’s going well, what you want more of, and how to build toward change step by step.
- Internal Family Systems (IFS): helps you understand the different parts of yourself—like the anxious part, the angry part, or the part that feels shut down. This approach builds self-awareness and emotional balance so you can lead your life with more clarity and confidence.
- Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP): is a proven method I use for treating OCD and anxiety. It helps you face distressing thoughts or fears in a safe, gradual way, so you regain control instead of relying on avoidance or compulsions.
- I also bring in life coaching tools when appropriate, helping you set boundaries, find your voice, build confidence, and create the life you want.
Here’s what you can expect when we work together:
- 60-minute initial evaluation to get the full picture
- 30-45–60- minute follow-ups that combines appropriate therapy with medication support
- Consistent availability and transparency
- Secure telehealth sessions from the privacy of your home
- Thoughtful guidance without judgment
- Practical tools to improve your daily functioning and long-term wellbeing
Results You Can Expect:
- Better emotional regulation
- Clearer thinking and stronger boundaries
- Fewer intrusive thoughts or compulsions
- Increased energy, motivation, and confidence
- More peace with your past and presence in your life
- A grounded sense of self that isn’t shaken by daily stress
My Background:
I bring over 15 years of clinical experience across psychiatry, medicine, and healthcare. My work spans inpatient psychiatry, trauma care, addiction treatment, integrative medicine, and private practice. This diverse background allows me to support you in a way that’s well-rounded, thoughtful, and personal. I’ve worked in medicine, mental health, trauma care, addiction support, and holistic treatment. That means I understand what you’re going through from multiple angles—biological, psychological, emotional, and behavioral.
I don’t treat people based on diagnoses or checklists. I treat people—with real stories, real challenges, and real goals. You won’t be rushed, judged, or reduced to a label. You’ll be heard, respected, and supported with a wide range of tools—therapy, medication, coaching, and integrative care—matched to your specific needs.
Whether you're dealing with anxiety, trauma, ADHD, OCD, mood changes, or something harder to describe, I bring the training and experience to help. This is a space where you can be honest, ask hard questions, and take steps at your own pace. You’ll be working with someone who listens closely, thinks clearly, and genuinely cares about helping you feel better and move forward.
