ASSESSMENT
Dr. Leak specializes in psychological assessment of children and adults (ages 7+). He offers comprehensive psychological evaluations to assess for cognitive, academic, executive, and socio-emotional functioning strengths and needs. In addition, he also offers additional options for testing to assess for autism spectrum disorder, language processing, adaptive functioning, and a variety of other disorders. The batteries are tailored to every patient’s specific question, which ensures that all of his clients receive a personalized experience.

THERAPY
The Diathesis-Stress model of psychology suggests, GENETICS load the gun and the ENVIRONMENT pulls the trigger. As human beings, we are all biologically vulnerable to experience mental health disorders, although they may manifest in different ways and to different levels of severity. At the same time we are all exposed to environmental stressors that can interact with our predispositions. With any therapist, it is important to develop SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely) goals that allow us to gain insight into our vulnerabilities and surroundings, to better understand why we react the way that we do.

As a SYSTEMS therapist, the goal is to first understand that we do not operate in a vacuum, and that we are constantly bombarded with environmental messages that sometimes result in problems with mood, anxiety, self-esteem, etc. The insight gained from exploring these environmental triggers can be used to CHANGE how we react in future situations.
