About me
For more than thirty years, I have had the privilege of helping people through life's challenges as an educator, school counselor, counselor educator, military and family life counselor, and licensed therapist. Throughout my career, one theme has remained constant: creating a safe, compassionate space where people feel heard, respected, and empowered to grow.
Clients have shared that my empathy and sense of humor help them feel at ease, even when facing life's most difficult moments. I believe healing begins with a genuine therapeutic relationship built on trust, acceptance, and collaboration.
My professional journey has taken me from serving as a school counselor in Alaska and Wyoming to teaching psychology and child development, directing counselor training grants, and working with military members and their families both across the United States and in Germany. These experiences have given me the opportunity to work with people from many walks of life and have deepened my appreciation for the resilience and strength each person brings to therapy.
I have also been honored to receive two state educational awards, alongside cherished colleagues, for our work promoting multicultural awareness and peacemaking. Those experiences reinforced my lifelong commitment to helping people communicate with compassion, resolve conflict in healthy ways, and build stronger relationships.
Today, I continue to work in private practice, helping individuals and couples navigate anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, life transitions, and questions of identity and purpose. Whether you are seeking support during a difficult season or hoping to create lasting personal change, I consider it a privilege to walk alongside you on your journey.
Outside the counseling office, I enjoy hiking, writing, and spending time with my three children and nine grandchildren. I was married for forty-eight years, an experience that has given me a deep appreciation for the joys, challenges, and enduring commitment that shape long-term relationships.
