About me
FIND YOUR "JOY" AGAIN with JOY FAMILY COUNSELING! Let me help you find your "JOY"...I specialize in working with neurodivergent clients. It can be hard to cope sometimes in this ever-changing world...Do you want more out of life? Do you want more than what a life coach or an accountability coach can offer? Your treatment should NOT feel like a fast-food drive thru. My specialty is working with neurodivergent clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and/or clients that may process information or their emotions differently.
I enjoy working with my clients and/or their families to find their “JOY” again in life. I listen, counsel, and allow for your transformation. My goal is guide you, your family and/or your child through an in-depth diagnostic assessment and individualized treatment plan so you or your child feels and functions better. I have over 20 years of experience in the mental health and education fields as a therapist, mental health provider, supervisor, and director. I have experience counseling clients through individual therapy, family therapy, couples/marital counseling, group therapy, behavior management, and crisis management. I have treated and/or consulted on the treatment of hundreds of clients across the lifespan (birth-adult) with severe mental health issues and/or disabilities. I have specialized training in autism, trauma-informed care, CBT, behavior management techniques, anger management, mindfulness, relaxation techniques, parenting strategies, couples/relationships, & more!
I believe that every client is unique and will tailor your treatment to meet your unique needs in therapy. I think the main reason we develop mental health issues is because they are unhealthy learned behaviors that we have picked up along the way, but that we have the power to change those behaviors & in a sense change our story. I like to use humor often in my therapy practice because life is hard , especially when working through difficult issues of our own or in our relationships. I use real-world examples and experiences from my own personal/professional life that I feel makes the counseling experience more authentic. I want my clients to "find their JOY again" in their lives, however, they choose do it.
