About me
I am a therapist who has experience working with adolescents, adults, queer folks, and those with trauma. I work with depressive, bipolar, and trauma related disorders.
My name is Joshua Santiago and I am a licensed therapist who cares deeply about the clientele that I work with. I believe firmly that access to therapy should be available for all. I have a deep desire working with those who have experienced trauma (PTSD) and walking the path of recovery alongside you. Trauma can leave someone feeling defeated and hopeless, but as survivors we can rise to the occasion to bounce back stronger.
I have earned my M.S. in counseling from Nova Southeastern University in 2021. Having received training during the COVID-19 pandemic, I have honed my Telehealth craft from the beginning and committed to development and improvement. Additionally I have a B.S. in Exceptional Student Education and have a background in working with children with behavioral disorders.
I am heavily invested in Telehealth work. I know quality of care may vary depending on zip code. There are a number of barriers to entry for therapy such as access to transportation, scheduling and availability, and personal and family commitments. This passion stems from my own experiences and frustrations with delays in access to care and self-betterment.
I am currently heavily invested in working with clients who have experienced trauma or experiencing great change in their lives or feeling lost.
I have provided services focused on treating depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), behavioral disorders, bi-polar disorder (BP-I/BP-II), and stress related to systematic barriers regarding race, gender, and sexuality.
My approach is eclectic with a mixture of different modalities I find beneficial for my clients. I have training in cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma-focused CBT (TF-CBT), motivational interviewing, cognitive processing therapy (CPT), and mindfulness-based practices. I tend to lean into what works for my clients during treatment as my style revolves around their needs and where they want to see themselves.
