About me
I am a doctoral candidate and licensed clinical social worker specializing in trauma, anxiety, and chronic stress, helping adults build meaningful lives with greater connection, confidence, and purpose.
You may be the person others rely on, the one who keeps going, handles the pressure, and holds everything together. Yet inside, you might feel on edge, disconnected, exhausted, or caught in patterns you can’t seem to change. You may understand where those patterns come from and still struggle to respond differently. Therapy can be a place to put down some of that weight and begin moving toward the life you want.
I’m Joseph Gleed, a doctoral candidate in social work and licensed clinical social worker specializing in trauma and complex trauma. I help adults navigate the effects of painful experiences, anxiety, chronic stress, and relationship difficulties. My work also includes supporting people living with chronic pain and those who feel stuck in survival mode, always preparing for the next problem, struggling to relax, or finding it difficult to feel close to others.
My approach is warm, direct, and collaborative. We’ll work together to understand what you’re experiencing, what keeps you stuck, and what meaningful progress would look like in your daily life. There is room for honest conversations, practical tools, and humor when it fits. You don’t need to have the right words or know exactly where to begin.
I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, and approaches that attend to the ways stress and trauma affect both the mind and body. Depending on your needs, our work may involve processing painful memories, responding differently to difficult thoughts and emotions, strengthening boundaries, or rebuilding trust and connection. We’ll move at a pace that supports your ability to stay present and engaged. You won’t be pressured to share every detail of your experiences before you’re ready.
As a U.S. Army veteran and former undercover operator in anti-human trafficking work, I bring experience with high-pressure environments that informs my perspective. I have a particular interest in working with veterans, first responders, and people accustomed to carrying responsibility while keeping their own struggles private. I also work with adults from many other backgrounds, recognizing that your experiences and what they mean to you are unique.
Alongside my clinical work, I’m the co-founder and Clinical Director of Renova Wellness & Consulting, a university instructor, and a continuing education presenter. My doctoral work focuses on complex trauma and how treatment can better address the processes that keep people struggling. I bring that ongoing learning into therapy while keeping our work grounded in what matters to you.
My goal is to help you build a life with greater flexibility, connection, and purpose, one in which difficult experiences have less control over your choices. If this sounds like the kind of support you’re looking for, reach out. We can talk about what brings you to therapy and whether working together feels like a good fit.
