I have been a psychotherapist for over 50 years dedicated to providing a safe, comfortable environment that promotes problem-solving, growth, and resolution of longer term issues if present.

I have an extensive history of working in a variety of environments in addition to my psychotherapeutic experience. I served in the military and had a number of jobs before entering the mental health field, which has become a lifelong calling for me. I have taught at the University level for 48 years, achieving the rank of Professor Emeritus. As a therapist, I have worked in both agencies and private practice, serving individuals, education institutions, businesses, corporate EAPS, courts, and social services.

I provide a supportive, compassionate environment dedicated to your growth and development, as well as to mutual problem-solving for both short- and long-term issues. I anticipate and enjoy your active participation in the process, basing our relationship on openness, honesty, and caring. Therapy is not something that I do for or to you, it is something that we do together.

I work primarily with adults of all ages, 18 to 80, but I would consider working with an adolescent if there were extenuating circumstances, having had years of experience working with this age group. I am experienced with a diversity of challenges, but I am particularly experienced with anxiety, depression, trauma, first responders, and veterans. I use a variety of approaches, starting with solution-focused and cognitive behavioral techniques, then initiating other techniques such as schema therapy or relational therapy if your situation demands.
