About me
I am a licensed clinical social worker and Christian counselor dedicated to helping individuals and families heal from trauma, anxiety, and life transitions through compassion, faith, and evidence-based care.
Welcome! I’m Dr. Johnita McGee-Smith, PhD, LISW (Ohio), LCSW (Virginia) — a licensed clinical social worker, Christian counselor, author, and the founder of Grace to Grace Behavioral Health. My passion is helping individuals and families find healing, strength, and hope through compassionate, evidence-based therapy.
I believe that healing begins with grace — grace for yourself, grace for your journey, and grace for the process of change. My approach integrates trauma-informed care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational techniques, and faith-based principles for those who wish to include spirituality in their healing. I provide a safe and collaborative space where you can process challenges, build resilience, and move toward emotional and spiritual well-being.
At Grace to Grace Behavioral Health, my team and I serve individuals, couples, and families across Ohio and Virginia. We work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship struggles, and life transitions. Our mission is to make high-quality mental health care accessible and deeply human — blending professionalism with warmth, structure with compassion, and clinical excellence with heart.
Whether you’re seeking support for yourself, your family, or your next chapter in life, I’m here to walk alongside you. Together, we’ll work toward growth, restoration, and the peace that comes from healing — one step, one moment, and one measure of grace at a time.
My practice is proudly composed of Black therapists and professionals of color who are committed to creating a safe, inclusive space where healing is accessible and culturally affirming. We understand the importance of being seen, heard, and supported—especially in communities that have historically been overlooked or underserved.
I specialize in trauma, anxiety, depression, women’s mental health, substance use, and support for at-risk and marginalized populations. Using evidence-based therapies and a deeply empathetic approach, I walk alongside clients as they work toward growth, resilience, and lasting change.
This is more than therapy—it’s where grace meets growth. Let’s take that next step together.
