About me
I am a highly skilled trauma specialist trained and certified in multiple facets of trauma-informed care. I specialize in working with adolescents and adults with post-traumatic stress, trauma, substance use issues and co-occurring disorders of depression, anxiety, and family related issues. I am a Trauma & Resilience Trainer, a Trauma Informed Peer Support Trainer, a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor, a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and am trained in EMDR. I provide treatment to BIPOC clients supporting trauma recovery and resilience building. I use a variety of approaches to treatment, including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Reality Based Therapy, and Solution Focused techniques, depending on the most appropriate evidenced based treatment for my clients. In addition, I serve as a consultant to other licensed clinicians and I supervise Residents seeking to become Licensed Professional Counselors.
I am frequently engaged by non-profit agencies, community-based programs, and mental health agencies to educate and train their staff on trauma informed care. I also provide organizations with training on trauma-informed care organizational best practices.
I believe that psycho-education and a holistic approach are keys to healing, behavior change, and one’s ability to maintain and sustain the changes that have been made. My own life experiences, as well as those of many of my clients, have compelled me to advocate for systemic change in the provision of culturally responsive care. I am an engaging presenter with a wealth of knowledge and a passion for change. I believe that it is important to be aware of the the impacts of trauma and racial trauma on mental health And I believe this individual and cultural awareness is essential to treating each client in a holistic manner.
