About me
I am a Marriage therapist. I provide Marriage Counseling to couples. I have a consistant track record of helping couples dealing with serious issues like infidelity and separation put their marriage back together and thrive. I utilize a very directive Marriage process. Its a 12 week foundational process I take couples through in our Marriage Rescue Institute. My focus is on helping couples learn the process and skills around emotional intelligence, relational intelligence, healthy communication, and constructive conflict resolution. This provides the foundation for them to stabilize and heal around any of the major issues that are threatening their marriage and intimacy. Whatever the issue, you can heal. I would be honored to help you get to the root of the issue and experience real growth and change..
A man once said to me, "I've been on depression medication for 15 years, why am I still depressed?" Because if we just treat symptoms our problems never go away, but the entire field of psychology is built on a symptomatic approach. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, every diagnosis in it is a list of symptoms. If we want transformative change, we have to get down to the etiology; the root of the problem.
All mental health problems are rooted in the breakdown in our relationships or the inability to connect. That's why anxious, addicted, depressed people isolate. It's also why the greatest struggle of those on the autistic spectrum is in the area of social engagement. Because we are all relational, we all need healthy relationship in order to realize our full humanity, to reach our potential.
When you come to therapy at Growth and Change Counseling, you will have a unique experience. We do therapy differently and our results speak for themselves. We are solutions focused and integrative. Sessions are the catalyst where we identify and explore areas of desired change. At home and in your daily life, you will flesh out the relational homework that we identify together in the therapy sessions. Your growth journey will take as long as you need it too but if you commit to the process, you can see rapid growth. Our goal is to help you get there as quickly as possible.
We are experienced and effective at treating cross cultural relationships and marriages, parent child relationships, sex addiction, video game and internet addictions, gambling addictions, culturally specific marital, parenting, and family issues that arise in Mexican, Indian, Filipino, Chinese, Russian, or Korean culture. This is because John himself lives between cultures, is American, thinks like an Asian, and is married to a Brazilian. He understands the nuance and complexities of these situations and their intersection with the universal principles of healthy relationships and he has trained his entire group practice to be adept at treating these situations.
People come to us for many reasons, but they stay because they like our methods and experience results. Maybe you have been burned by therapy before, maybe you settled for the idea that your stuck forever. Give us a call! Give us a try, embrace a unique experience and a compelling opportunity to grow! Call me and let's talk about it!
