About me
I am an experienced Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and former School Counselor with over 20 years experience working with teens and adults. Aside from talk therapy, I offer Neurofeedback and Brainspotting in my practice. I have found that combining different treatment modalities have been very beneficial for the therapeutic process.
As for my professional background, I am a client-centered, solution-focused and trauma-informed therapist. I am interactive with my clients and bring a non-judgemental presence into the room and on screen. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing with my clients. There are times when talk therapy is not only insufficient on its own, but it can also re-traumatize a client depending on where they are in their process, so when indicated, I combine Neurofeedback and/or Brainspotting during our sessions.
Alongside my private practice, I've worked in treatment programs for mental health and chemical dependency as well as in public and
non-public schools offering personal and academic counseling for high school students. I also provide treatment placement for individuals in all levels of care from short term to long term programs for tweens through adults. I am passionate about educating people and families about safe and ethical programs. I speak at high schools and universities on alcohol and other drug prevention, as well as on trauma and substance use. I have been used as a media expert on tv, radio and podcasts; like ABC news, Dr. Drew podcast and L.A. Talk Radio.
As for me personally, I love what I do...almost as much as I love my three little rescue dogs. I'm really happy that you've reached out for support. This first step is not an easy one, but I will be by your side through this journey of growth and inner peace. I treat clients suffering from anxiety, mood disorders, substance use disorder, trauma. grief and loss. We all process life events differently, but when those experiences begin to get in the way of our every day functioning is when it's time to get help. No one needs to live in emotional pain. My goal is not to keep my clients in therapy for years, but to support them in finding the tools to help themselves, so they can feel empowered to live life on life's terms leading them to a place of strength, hope and healing.
