About me
Hi, my name is Jo, and I am an integrative counsellor registered with the BACP. I offer a compassionate and honest space for you to be able to explore, process and acknowledge any thoughts, experiences and emotions you may be having without a fear of judgement. My experience to date has included working with adults with complex mental health needs, general mental health concerns and wellbeing (anxiety, body image concerns, depression), as well as working with children and young people (aged 5 – 18).
I believe that everyone has the right to choose how counselling looks like for them (whether it’s a space to gain understanding and solutions to different paths or an empathic place to express yourself) and therefore I work collaboratively with my clients, empowering each person to lead the therapeutic process and be in control of it.
My personal style of counselling could be described as Integrative, as I use my core person-centred skills to build the therapeutic relationship and use additional counselling modalities such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), attachment therapy and solution-focused therapy to supplement this. Incorporating these theories into the practice can help with further insight of yourself and your processes. It can also empower you to move forward with presenting concerns, learn various coping skills to use to maintain and promote emotional well-being throughout the therapeutic process and beyond.
