About me
I am a bilingual Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with nearly 20 years of clinical experience specializing in trauma, anxiety, ADHD, neurodivergence, and relationship concerns.
Welcome. I’m Jessica Orozco Barajas, a bilingual Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with nearly 20 years of clinical experience working with adults, couples, and families. I specialize in trauma, anxiety, ADHD, neurodivergence, relationship concerns, and major life transitions.
I often work with people who are doing well in many areas of their lives but still feel overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or frustrated by patterns they haven’t been able to change. Some have spent years trying to understand why certain things seem harder for them than they should. Others know where their struggles come from but need help figuring out what to do differently.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and practical. I take the time to understand what you’re experiencing, what has and hasn’t worked in the past, and what you want to get out of therapy. I am trained in EMDR and also draw from CBT, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, DBT, and family systems approaches. I don’t believe in using the same approach with everyone. Therapy should make sense for you and the way you experience the world.
A significant part of my practice involves working with adults with ADHD and neurodivergent individuals, including people who were diagnosed or began recognizing these differences later in life. We may work on executive functioning, emotional regulation, burnout, relationships, self-criticism, or the impact of spending years feeling misunderstood or trying to function in ways that weren’t a good fit. When trauma is also part of the picture, we look at how these experiences may be connected.
As a bilingual and bicultural therapist, I also understand how culture, family expectations, and lived experience can shape the way we understand ourselves and our relationships. I have extensive experience working with first-generation and immigrant clients and understand the complexities that can come with navigating different cultural expectations, family roles, boundaries, and intergenerational patterns.
In addition to therapy, I provide psychological evaluations for immigration matters, including asylum, VAWA, U visas, and extreme hardship cases. I have extensive experience conducting immigration evaluations and understand how difficult it can be to discuss painful or traumatic experiences in this context. I approach each evaluation with care and respect while making sure the person’s history, symptoms, and current functioning are accurately documented.
You don’t need to know exactly what you want to work on before starting therapy. Sometimes figuring that out is part of the process. What matters to me is that our work is useful, that you feel understood, and that what we do in therapy translates into meaningful changes in your everyday life.
