About me
Hello and thank you for your interest in my counseling practice. I bring a wide breadth of experience with thanks to many decades as a therapist, nurse, and mother, and do my best to bring that forward into my work with clients. I call on varied theoretical approaches in order to see what feels right and most effective for each person. For me, it is trust, steadiness, creativity, love, and laughter, that are some of the most essential ingredients in therapy for it to make a difference in a person's life. My hope is that you will find me to be a valuable touchstone and resource for personal exploration, growth, and contentedness.
Being born in New York and raised in Berkeley, California, during the 60-70's, I had an eclectic beginning. My father, a pediatrician and giant, became sick and died in our home when he was twenty-nine years old and I was two. A thing that framed my early years and shaped me. Always a bit of an odd duck, I moved straight to the Castro once freed from high school, and immersed myself in the world of the 1980's San Francisco and the AID's epidemic. I attended SFSU with a formative education in Women's and Ethnic studies. In 1990, ready for life anew, I moved to Seattle, a place I've called home ever since. I started my nursing career as a graduate from Seattle Central, then went on for a Bachelors at UW. Being a nurse means the world to me and I'm grateful for all that it's taught me about being human - about suffering and loss, and about love and recovery. I enjoyed a private practice on Queen Anne for a decade, with a focus on early/complex trauma, until Covid. Because in-person therapy is my practice preference, I made the hard decision to pause. Now, nearly 5 years later, I'm thrilled to be relaunching my practice with a beautiful new office in Fremont, Seattle.
