About me

I am a clinical psychologist and founder of Gemstone Wellness in Chicago, dedicated to helping people work through trauma, anxiety, and grief in a space where they feel fully seen.

I am a clinical psychologist and the founder of Gemstone Wellness, a trauma-informed, identity-affirming therapy practice located in downtown Chicago. Our office sits in the Loop, near Jackson and Dearborn, easily accessible by the Blue Line, and we also see clients by telehealth anywhere in Illinois.

I personally see my patients from my home in Michigan, and across the United States via PsyPact. I often work with highly sensitive, empathic, neurodivergent people, and I also love working with other therapists. I do deep work. We go through all of life together, understanding it better, so that you can better take control of the present.

I started Gemstone Wellness because I wanted to build a practice where identity is never treated as a footnote to someone's mental health. We are a women, queer, and Latina-owned group practice, and that isn't a marketing line. It shapes every part of how we hire, train, and show up with clients.

Gemstone Wellness is a team of licensed therapists who specialize in trauma, anxiety, grief, religious harm, couples work, and sex therapy, with deep experience in LGBTQIA+ affirming care. Many of the people who find us have already tried therapy somewhere else and left feeling unseen, misread, or reduced to a diagnosis. We built this practice for people who want a therapist who understands the specific weight of their experience, whether that comes from religious trauma, a marginalized identity, a difficult relationship, or trauma that's been carried silently for years.

Here is what we specialize in:

Trauma and PTSD, including complex and developmental trauma
Immigration Psychological Assessment
Anxiety, including generalized anxiety, panic, and health anxiety
Grief and loss, including anticipatory grief and disenfranchised grief
Religious trauma and harm from high-control or purity-culture environments
Couples counseling, including communication, betrayal, and relationship repair
Sex therapy, including desire discrepancy, sexual shame, and intimacy after trauma
LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy, including identity exploration, gender transition support, and coming out

Our clinicians are trained in evidence-based approaches like CBT, DBT, and mindfulness, but we don't treat those as a checklist. The work is relational first. We want clients to leave sessions feeling understood, not processed. Every new client goes through a matching process where we consider your goals, your personality, and what kind of therapeutic relationship will actually help you heal, not just whoever happens to have an open slot that week.

We offer sessions in both English and Spanish. If you have questions about insurance, out-of-network benefits, or sliding scale availability, reach out to our team directly and we will walk you through your options honestly and clearly.

I'm a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) and have spent my career specializing in anxiety, trauma, and the ways early experiences shape adult relationships. Outside of clinical work, I'm often writing or speaking about the psychology of everyday behavior, including pieces featured in outlets like Parade. I care about making psychology feel accessible and useful outside the therapy room, not just inside it.

If you're in Chicago or anywhere in Illinois and looking for a therapist who will take both your pain and your identity seriously, I'd love for you to reach out to Gemstone Wellness.
