About me
Hi! My name is Jenna and I am a licensed professional clinical counselor [LPCC] in the state of Ohio with 6 years of professional working experience-- 7 if inclined to include clinical internship hours. I have successfully assisted people to overcome and cope with stress, anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders; trauma-related symptoms and disorders; all types and variations of relationships, relationship dynamics, and family or group challenges; general life transitions or adjustments; career exploration; and in addressing the day-to-day "stuff" that can sometimes weigh heavily on us when we are working toward discovering our most authentic, comfortable, and enlightened self.
Prior to independent practice, the majority of my experience had been with youth and young adults, as well as couples or families from high-risk populations--- whether it be those struggling with or impacted by substance use, legal involvement, family disruption and separation, multiple traumas, and otherwise. I tend to utilize an eclectic approach predominantly rooted in ACT, CBT, DBT, and existential therapies while also emphasizing the creation of intentional space to truly hear you; a space to explore and process through the life experiences that have made an undoubtable impact on you along the way. I whole-heartedly believe that we are the experts of our own being: no one is going to know you or know how to heal you more than yourself, but I would be honored to walk next to you and help you reconnect to whatever it is that "that" means for you.
I tend to take a more casual, conversational approach: offering a blend of professionally trained and skilled clinical mental health therapy with empathy, humor, collaboration, and "nerding out" about social and emotional topics with the intention of improving the understanding of yourself, and to feel empowered (and maybe even grateful) to experience life as you... exactly as you are. I frequently incorporate radical acceptance, authenticity and identity development; do my best to cultivate a genuine connection and rapport; include the celebration of autonomy and freewill; and lean heavily into education. I believe that the first steps toward sustainable change are awareness and honesty. We have to be real about what it is in order to be real about our healing and reconciliation; we're going to have to grow through what we go through.
If this sounds like an environment and therapeutic approach that may align with what you are looking for, I encourage you to reach out so that we can talk more!
