About me
I help men learn how to understand themselves, feel their feelings, make positive changes, and become better partners and fathers. I help couples figure out how to actually communicate and resolve relationship problems.
My path to becoming a licensed clinical social worker and therapist began with my own experiences of relationship challenges and major life transitions in my early 40s, which led me to seek therapy and inspired a decade of personal growth. I have an MBA and had a 30-year career in financial and nonprofit management, before becoming a therapist. I earned my Master of Social Work degree from the University of Denver, and gained practical clinical experience with older adults before working in community and medical settings in Pittsburgh and Nashville. After completing 3,000 hours of supervised clinical work and passing the highest-level clinical exam, I became licensed to practice independently in California, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Maine, and Virginia.
I bring a strengths-based, whole-person perspective to working with adults and couples, supporting people coping with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, loss, life-stage changes, and career challenges. I am thorough in getting to know each client or couple, carefully considering your goals and background. I tailor treatment to your specific needs using an integrative approach. I will work with you to define and refine your goals, sometimes providing assignments between sessions to help you reflect and apply what we discuss. My role is to help you gain self-insight and remove obstacles to growth and change.
