About me

Experienced Addiction, Trauma, and Mental Health Specialist

Hello and welcome! I'm Jeff Duckworth, a licensed clinical social worker and the founder of Rogue Sun Counseling & Consulting. I've worked in the substance abuse field since 2013 and mental health since 2020. I've had the privilege to work as the Clinical Director at Blue Ridge Mountain Recovery Center and as the Executive Director at Hope Harbor Wellness and West Georgia Wellness Center. I'm a person in long-term recovery from addiction, and I’m especially passionate about supporting others in healing from substance use and trauma.

My mission is to shift stuckness into strategy – one person, one program, one purpose at a time.

Feeling stuck can be frustrating, but it’s also a powerful signal. It often means something important is ready to shift, even if it doesn’t feel that way at first. When we begin to understand what’s holding us back, the way forward becomes clearer. My role is to support you in that process and help you move toward the life you want.

There’s a moment many people don’t talk about - the quiet realization that life no longer feels manageable. It doesn’t always come with a crisis. Sometimes, it’s the weight of days that feel the same, the relationships that don’t quite connect anymore, or the habits that once offered relief but now bring shame. For some, it’s waking up and wondering how things got this far off track.

I’ve worked with people who carry deep pain, often hidden behind success, sarcasm, or silence. They don’t need fixing. They need space to be honest, to be heard, and to figure out what healing could actually look like in their real lives - not in theory.

This work matters to me because I know change is possible. I’ve seen people reclaim their lives from addiction, reconnect after trauma, and discover parts of themselves they thought were lost. Whether you're here because of substance use, depression, anxiety, or the feeling that you're just not living the life you want - you're not alone. And you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Healing looks different for everyone, which is why the way we work together matters. I use a range of therapeutic approaches that are selected intentionally, based on what works. The goal isn’t just symptom relief, but deeper alignment with who you truly are and what your life is asking of you now. My methods include:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Rational-Emotive Behavioral Therapy
Narrative Therapy
Motivational Interviewing
Humanistic Therapy
Strengths-Based Therapy
Accelerated Resolution Therapy
Rapid Resolution Therapy

My personal experience with recovery, passion for healing trauma, and extensive experience helping people (clients or otherwise) are core to who I am. I value honesty, integrity, and serenity above all other things, and I feel privileged to be able to serve others in this capacity.

Thank you for considering me for your journey toward healing and growth. I look forward to working with you!
