About me

My name is Dr. Jeanne Assinthe, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Qualified Supervisor, and Doctor of Social Work dedicated to transforming how we approach mental health and healing. With over 15 years of experience, my work is driven by a profound commitment to decolonizing trauma-informed care and making it more accessible, equitable, and effective for Black, Brown, and other historically marginalized communities.

My approach to healing is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: true recovery must honor the whole person—their identity, their history, their community, and their culture. I don't just treat symptoms; I work to address the root causes of trauma, including the enduring impacts of colonialism, systemic oppression, and intergenerational pain. This is why I've developed frameworks like the Empowering Families Program, which integrates ancestral wisdom, liberation psychology, and community-led interventions to support families in breaking cycles of harm.

My leadership journey is shaped by a blend of direct clinical practice and systems-level strategy. As the Founder and CEO of Amitie Wellness, Inc., I've built an organization that provides a wide spectrum of services, from ketamine-assisted therapy and cultural healing circles to organizational equity audits and policy advocacy. I am a published author, a certified trainer, and a trusted partner for agencies, nonprofits, and health systems seeking to elevate their care and build more culturally responsive programs. I am particularly proud of my work in developing training programs and providing qualified supervision to nurture the next generation of culturally competent clinicians.

Whether I am speaking at a conference, supervising a clinician, or working directly with a family, my core principles are always the same: collaboration, empowerment, and a deep respect for the resilience and wisdom that already exists within individuals and communities. I believe in meeting people where they are, in honoring their lived experiences, and in working alongside them to reclaim their power and write their own stories of healing.

Ultimately, my mission is to help create a world where mental health care is a site of liberation, not just symptom management; a space where every individual and family can not only recover but thrive on their own terms. I am honored to be part of this vital work.
