About me
I work in-person and virtually with individuals and couples in NYC and New York State seeking support around trauma, anxiety, OCD, sex and sexuality, relationship concerns, self-esteem, and challenging family relationships.
I believe that each person is a mosaic of experiences, identities, and values and I will tailor our work to your unique needs and goals. My approach is engaged, collaborative, and not mysterious – I’ll share my observations with you, explain what I believe you may find helpful and why, and welcome your feedback on what is and is not working for you.
My approach is trauma-informed and LGBTQIA+ affirming as I work with individuals and couples in New York City and throughout NY state. My clients often share that they feel deeply understood and validated as we explore themes such as anxiety, complex trauma, relationship and intimacy concerns, self-worth, and boundaries. Couples have shared that our time together greatly improved communication skills and conflict resolution, strengthened emotional and physical intimacy, and allowed them to understand and navigate the impacts of prior trauma on the relationship. I have particular experience in working with interracial and interfaith couples and exploring how differences in identity impact the relationship.
My therapeutic approach draws from Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), the Gottman Method for Couples Counseling, Somatic Therapy, and more.
That’s a lot of technical jargon, but the main point is that by integrating methods that build insight, self-understanding, and tangible emotional and physical strategies, you’ll be able to:
-Discover new ways to connect and communicate with yourself and others
-Develop a robust toolkit of skills to manage anxiety, emotional distress, and interpersonal conflict
-Attend to wounds of pain and fear from past experiences, repairing the impact of trauma
-Feel more in tune with your body and address physical symptoms of stress such as sleep difficulties, GI issues, muscle tension, and more
-Grow in self-compassion and confidence and release shame and self-criticism
