About me
As an experienced trauma therapist, I help adults build resilience, restore balance, and find healing after adversity.
Welcome!
Life’s challenges can leave us feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of the next step forward. Trauma, stress, and anxiety can affect not only our mental health, but also our relationships, physical health, and sense of purpose. If you are carrying a heavy burden, I want you to know you don’t have to face it alone.
I am a licensed clinical social worker dedicated to helping adults heal from trauma, rebuild resilience, and rediscover joy. My approach is compassionate, integrative, and evidence-based. I see therapy as a partnership: together, we work to process the past, strengthen your present, and create a hopeful path forward.
Who I Work With:
I work primarily with adults navigating:
Trauma and post-traumatic stress (including childhood trauma, military trauma, and first responder stress)
Anxiety, panic, and overwhelm
Stress management and burnout
Grief, loss, and life transitions
Depression and disconnection
Relational difficulties and boundary struggles
I have a special focus on veterans, first responders, and helping professionals—those who spend their lives serving others and often carry invisible wounds. Many of my clients are highly resilient people who look “fine” on the outside, but inside feel exhausted, shut down, or caught in cycles of stress.
My Approach to Therapy:
Healing looks different for everyone. I combine traditional talk therapy with trauma-informed, body-based practices that support the nervous system and promote deep recovery. Some of the modalities I use include:
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): An evidence-based trauma therapy that helps the brain reprocess painful memories so they no longer feel overwhelming.
Somatic & Polyvagal Practices: Gentle body awareness, grounding, and movement that help restore safety and calm in the nervous system.
Mindfulness & Meditation: Tools for cultivating presence, self-compassion, and inner balance.
Integrative Psychotherapy: Looking at the whole person—mind, body, relationships, and environment—to promote holistic healing.
My style is warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I won’t rush you into telling your story before you feel ready. We will set a pace that feels safe, using resourcing and stabilization skills to make sure you have the tools you need along the way.
What to Expect in Sessions:
Intake Session: We’ll begin with a thorough assessment of your history, strengths, and goals.
Treatment Planning: Together we’ll identify what you want to change and outline a roadmap for therapy.
Ongoing Therapy: Depending on your needs, this may involve weekly supportive sessions or biweekly/monthly trauma-focused work such as EMDR.
Skill Building: Alongside processing, we’ll develop practical tools for stress management, grounding, communication, and resilience.
Closing/Transition: When you’re ready, we’ll work on consolidating progress and planning for continued growth outside therapy.
Clients often share that therapy becomes a space where they can finally slow down, feel safe, and reconnect with themselves.
Groups & Programs:
In addition to individual therapy, I offer:
Somatic Group (Mondays): Gentle, movement-based exercises for nervous system regulation and trauma recovery.
Mindful Meditation Group (Wednesdays): Practice meditation and cultivate awareness in a supportive environment.
Specialized Programs for Veterans (Project Whetstone): Adventure-based peer and therapy programs, including a therapeutic trek on Scotland’s West Highland Way.
Groups provide an additional layer of support, allowing clients to connect with others while learning practical skills.
Why I Do This Work:
My passion for trauma therapy is both professional and personal. I know how much unprocessed trauma can shape a life—and how healing can restore it. My work is inspired by the belief that every person has the capacity to heal, and that recovery is not about “getting over it,” but about learning new ways to live with meaning, purpose, and connection.
I’ve had the honor of walking alongside veterans, first responders, survivors of abuse, and people carrying long-held grief. What they all share is courage—the courage to show up and do the hard work of healing. It’s a privilege to hold space for that journey.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions:
Do I have to talk about my trauma right away?
No. In fact, I often begin by building coping skills, grounding techniques, and inner resources before diving into trauma work. You set the pace.
How long does therapy take?
It depends. Some clients benefit from short-term, skills-focused work, while others engage in longer-term trauma processing. We’ll design a plan that fits your needs.
What’s the difference between EMDR and talk therapy?
Talk therapy uses conversation to explore your experiences. EMDR helps your brain reprocess painful memories so they lose their emotional intensity. It’s often faster and more effective for trauma.
Do you take insurance?
Yes, I accept most major insurance plans and provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes, I offer secure video sessions as well as in-person appointments.
Taking the step to begin therapy is brave. You don’t have to have everything figured out—you only need the willingness to start. Whether you are seeking relief from trauma, struggling with stress, or searching for deeper meaning, I would be honored to walk alongside you in your healing journey.
