About me
I am a seasoned therapist who specializes in serving intimate partnerships (i.e. couples) and adult family groups (i.e. parents and adult children) with relationship distress, and adult survivors of trauma.
I see my role as a therapist is to assist you in exploring your internal and interpersonal experiences, support you in facing previously warded off memories and emotions, come to affirmative insights about yourself, and have corrective experiences that enhance your sense of agency, vitality, mastery, connection, competence and coherence in your real life relationships. Outside of my state clinical license and national professional certification, I hold competency-based post-graduate certifications in Emotionally Focused Therapy (Couples and Families) and Discernment Counseling, and have extensive training and supervision in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, and while these methods of therapy guide my thinking about client experiences and inform the structure of my work, I am a life-long learner that focuses on study, supervision and practice of the art and science of therapy and counseling. Additionally, I remain in my own therapy to push my growing edges as much as I seek to support my clients' growing edges.
Outside of being a therapist, I provide supervision and consultation to therapists of all career stages, of all professions, all over the world on Clinical Social Work, Relationship-Focused Counseling for Intimate Partnerships and Family Groups, Emotionally Focused Therapy (Certified Supervisor), and psychotherapy for adult survivors of trauma. I co-manage a group practice (North Carolina Therapy Professionals, PLLC) that is client and clinician centered with the mission of providing excellent therapy and counseling services to all residents of North Carolina who need them. I also volunteer as a manager and moderator for multiple psychotherapist listservs that serve various therapist communities throughout North Carolina.
