About me
I am a growth minded family therapist, committed to supporting parents & teens, young adults, and adults overcome challenges and be their best Self through a variety of effective modalities.
In my 20 years as a family therapist, I've worked with clients at a faith-based university clinic, teenage residential treatment, outpatient child-trauma-focused clinic, and now in my own private practice. Each of these settings had their own primary focus and specialty modalities that have prepared me to provide for the needs of my current clients. I practice from a Cognitive Behavioral foundation, integrating a focus on understanding emotions, and educating my clients on the brain-body-mind interactions, so they are empowered to be in control of their responses to in-the-moment stressors. I am formally trained in EMDR, IASIS microcurrent neurofeedback, and the MTQ family of mental toughness questionnaires.
Throughout the process of clinical work and no matter the presenting problem, I challenge my clients to formally understand who they are and to begin creating who they want to be. This is a formal and defined process where clients specifically identify their value systems and their vision for the future. A large part of this process is understanding their relationships, because we only understand ourselves in relation to others; "how am I the same, and how am I different?". With a solid and honest understanding of who they are, and naming who they want to be, people gain a greater sense of Self and peace. With increased peace, they will claim the confidence, strength, and drive to develop the life of Wellness they are looking for by coming to therapy.
